Watercolor illustration of the American Lady Butterfly displays its transformation from caterpillar to chrysalis to colorful flier (scientific name, Vanessa virginiensis). The pale pink flower is that of the Pitcher's Thistle, a threatened species. It grows in the dunes that border the Great Lakes (scientific name, Cirsium pitcheri). Pitcher's Thistle has a silvery white and woolly stem with a taproot as long as 6 feet.
Print measures 11" x 17" and is professionally printed in Northern Michigan, on a textured matte paper—certified archival, 310gsm, 100% cotton fiber, acid and lignin free. Each print is numbered in an edition of 250 and signed by Northern Michigan artist Dani Knoph Davis.
Frames feature a glass facing, plywood backing and sawtooth hanger.
