Brown Trout Fish Decoy

These fish spearing decoys are hand-carved from Eastern White Pine, Michigan’s state tree. The bag is hand-sewn. Recycled lead is added to provide weight and balance. Fins are cut from re-purposed galvanized tin. A letter “T” written on the underside of the decoy indicates that it has been tested to “swim” properly. Weight, balance, fins, and body shape all affect the swimming characteristics of a spearfishing decoy. The decoys are designed and crafted in the “Cadillac Style” to attract predator fish such as northern pike and muskellunge while fishing through the ice.
